Industry experts believe that during the war English is becoming critically important for Ukraine, especially in the military and corporate spheres.
“We are convinced that English is a key tool for increasing the effectiveness of Ukraine's interaction with international partners, particularly in the military sphere, where the correct understanding and use of Western weapons requires a thorough knowledge of English,” said the director of the corporate English school Empire English School Rostyslav Romaniuk during a press conference at the Interfax-Ukraine agency.
He also stressed the need for Ukrainian military personnel to speak English at a high level.
“We see that on the battlefield every word matters, and any language error can lead to catastrophic consequences,” he said.
Rostyslav Romaniuk emphasized that English is becoming necessary not only for using Western weapons but also for communicating with foreign instructors and military partners. Industry organizations stress that this need must be taken into account when developing educational programs for military personnel.
Empire English School, which has provided English language training in Ukraine for more than seven years, has faced new challenges because of the war. Demand for corporate English training has grown significantly, as most companies have had to adapt to new conditions and do business at the international level.
Industry organizations believe that English has become an integral part of the development strategy of Ukrainian companies, especially after the shift to remote work and the growth of international ties.
“Ukraine's education system has faced the problem of an outflow of qualified personnel. We are seeing a significant shortage of English teachers, as many specialists have been forced to leave the country because of the war. This creates challenges for the education system and requires an urgent solution,” stressed the director of Empire English School.
The expert also drew attention to the role of English in the psychological rehabilitation of veterans.
“The study of English can become a powerful tool not only for professional development but also for the rehabilitation of veterans, helping them adapt to civilian life after the war,” Romaniuk said.
This position is supported by industry organizations, which believe that language learning will contribute not only to the professional development of veterans but also to their integration into society.
Rostyslav Romaniuk emphasized that knowledge of English is critically important for Ukraine's future, especially in the context of the country's postwar recovery.
“English opens the door for Ukraine to international markets, attracting investment and global cooperation, which is decisive for the recovery of the economy,” said Rostyslav Romaniuk.
