In September 2025, compulsory basic general military training (BZVP) for students of higher education institutions will begin in Ukraine. The innovation is part of a comprehensive reform of the military training system, implemented in accordance with amendments to the Law of Ukraine “On military duty and military service,” signed by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
The programme was developed taking into account the experience of leading European countries, in particular Poland, Finland and the Baltic states. Its goal is to develop military skills in young people and readiness to defend the state.
