On October 4, on the eve of Teacher's Day, the President of Ukraine Foundation for the Support of Education, Science and Sports presented the Presidential awards to the winners of international school olympiads and their mentors. This year's award ceremony took place as part of an official event attended by deputy minister of education Mykhailo Vynnytskyi, deputy head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Olena Kovalska, Adviser-Commissioner of the President for the Affairs of the President of Ukraine Foundation Olha Budnyk, representatives of the Junior Academy of Sciences, and others.
Ukrainian schoolchildren continue to demonstrate impressive determination and motivation, winning 25 medals this year (13 silver and 12 bronze) at seven international school olympiads: in mathematics, informatics, physics, chemistry, astronomy and astrophysics, biology and geography.
Despite all the difficulties caused by the war, the state supports talented children by creating conditions for their development and fulfillment in Ukraine. During the ceremony, 25 young Ukrainians who achieved the highest results on the international educational stage received awards from the President of Ukraine Foundation, as did 23 teacher-mentors who helped them prepare for the competitions.
The President of Ukraine Foundation is honoring the winners and prizewinners of international educational olympiads for the fourth time, not only recognizing their achievements at the state level but also creating opportunities for their development in Ukraine. Every student who has won a prize place receives a Presidential prize of 100 thousand hryvnias – a significant step in supporting the intellectual development of young people and strengthening Ukraine's scientific potential.
The teacher-mentors, who play a key role in their students' achievements, were honored separately. They receive a Presidential prize of 50 thousand hryvnias. Established in 2023 on the initiative of the President's Foundation, this prize is being paid to teachers for the second time. In the present times their role is extremely important, because educators not only teach but also raise the new generation, shaping moral guidelines and spiritual values for the future of the country.
“Talented young people are the driving force of Ukraine's development. Today we are watching a generation that, despite all the challenges, shows incredible perseverance and persistence. On the part of the state, it is now more important than ever to provide them with comprehensive support and to create opportunities for them to develop and realize their talent in Ukraine. The Presidential prize is one of the instruments that recognizes their achievements and underscores their value to the country. The contribution of teachers, who through their work help gifted young people unlock their potential, also deserves separate mention. The future of a strong, European Ukraine is being built through the joint efforts of educators and young people,” said Olha Budnyk.
The President of Ukraine Foundation, as an institution, continues to support talented young people and their mentors. It is important for the state to create conditions for the development of future scientists, because human capital is the key force of Ukraine's recovery and development. The Foundation is actively working on developing and implementing new programs and initiatives to support talented Ukrainians, which helps create favorable conditions for their further development.
