The “Investment Nannies” have not lived up to the hopes placed on them

This was stated by the deputy chair of the Verkhovna Rada committee on finance, tax and customs policy, Olha Vasylevska-Smahliuk, during the congress “Reform of the Public Finance System – the Path to the Recovery of Ukraine,” organized with the support of CIPE.

“Unfortunately, the ‘Investment Nannies’ project predates the war and at present does not justify itself overall. Because an ‘investment nanny’ cannot manually manage and restore businesses, help unblock tax invoices, or fix the SMCOR system, which works incorrectly,” said Olha Vasylevska-Smahliuk, reports FinClub.

According to her, systemic reforms are needed. “Manual control of the tax service and customs does not lead to good results, but only to selective justice and selective unblocking for a certain percentage through an intermediary,” she stressed.

“The proposal of the think tanks and more than 200 business associations is to change the ideology of this terrible SMCOR system from punitive to analytical. That is, the blocking of tax invoices should take place only for a certain limited time. During that time – 30 or 60 days – the tax service must do its homework – carry out tax control measures – and then everything must be unblocked,” says Oleh Hetman, coordinator of the expert groups of the Economic Expert Platform.
