Metal structures have great potential in reconstruction projects – Rauta director Ozeichuk

Metal structures have great potential in reconstruction projects and will help accelerate it, said the director of Rauta, chairman of the board of directors of the association “Ukrainian Steel Construction Center,” Andrii Ozeichuk, to the Interfax-Ukraine agency.

“Metal structures have great potential for use in rebuilding infrastructure facilities, first and foremost bridges, and in protecting the energy complex,” Ozeichuk said.

According to him, partnership with international companies will help the development of the Ukrainian construction sector, and the market can also be stimulated through government orders.

“Ukrainian manufacturers of metal structures can be engaged by foreign companies that are looking for local producers to carry out construction projects, since steel is the predominant building material in most EU countries,” he explained.

Programs to modernize logistics hubs, warehouses, and industrial zones, as well as active construction of modular housing and social facilities using steel solutions, can also significantly increase the size of the metal structures market. Businesses are ready to offer innovative products for such reconstruction projects, the chairman of the association stressed.

In particular, the technology of frameless buildings made of sandwich panels, for which Rauta received a patent in 2024, makes it possible to erect energy-efficient buildings in a matter of days. Such a solution can be used to build individual houses, quick-assembly cold rooms and cold storage warehouses, as well as other single-story residential and commercial buildings, Ozeichuk gave as an example.

Rauta’s comprehensive airtightness solution allows building owners to save up to an additional 30% of their operating costs. The technology is based on the use of Ruukki Energy series sandwich panels and takes into account all possible elements to ensure the airtightness of the structure.

In 2023, Rauta developed a technology for erecting the walls of multi-story residential buildings using sandwich panels instead of masonry made of piece materials, which makes it possible to increase the saleable floor area by 4.5%, as a result of which the developer gets roughly 11% additional profit, the expert explained.
