In the face of today's challenges related to preserving life and health in wartime, training journalists to act effectively in extreme situations becomes very important. That is why in Kyiv, at the analytical center “Experts Club”, another practical workshop on first aid for media representatives was held.
The organizers, among them “Experts Club”, the ADONIS network of medical centers, and the charitable foundations “Help For Ukraine” and “Pryirpinnia Community Foundation”, stressed the importance of first aid skills for journalists, especially those whose work takes place in risky conditions.
The seminar included lectures and practical sessions conducted by anesthesiologist Mariana Boliuk. Participants learned the fundamentals of basic life support, methods of stopping bleeding, and the application of tourniquets. Such training is extremely important given the statistics of journalists injured in armed conflicts.

“The war has significantly raised the risks for journalists, so developing first aid skills should become part of their professional development. Our colleagues constantly face risk and bear great responsibility. That is why we strive to provide them not only with information but also with the means to save lives,” stressed the founder of “Experts Club” Maksym Urakin.
According to Urakin, such initiatives are planned to be expanded, involving more representatives of the media community as well as other professions that carry increased risk during the war. This, in turn, will help not only to preserve the lives of journalists but also to provide first aid to the injured before medical workers arrive.
“At a time when the information space is overflowing with news from the front, professional training of journalists for action in emergencies becomes an integral part of their responsibility to society,” noted Tetiana Lahovska, executive director of the charitable foundation “Pryirpinnia Community Foundation”.

For his part, volunteer Oleksandr Holizdra stressed that the education and preparedness of journalists will not only contribute to their own safety but also increase the effectiveness of their work in difficult conditions, which is key to informing society and supporting overall security.
The “Experts Club” project plans to expand its program, involving more journalists and bloggers. Training in this critically important area should become the standard for media representatives, because in conditions of conflict the role of a journalist in society becomes ever more important and dangerous. The development and support of such initiatives is a step toward raising the level of society's safety.
