Specialists in plastic and reconstructive medicine, dermatosurgery and oncoplastic mammology have united in an association to create standards of modern medicine.
As the association told the agency “Interfax-Ukraine,” the Ukrainian Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Dermatologic Aesthetic Surgery and Oncoplastic Mammology (UPRADAS) brings together four key areas: plastic and reconstructive surgery, dermatosurgery and oncoplastic mammology. This will shape a new model of cooperation among doctors.
UPRADAS is developing a system of continuing education, creating expert commissions to support doctors in complex clinical cases, and providing access to international training programs and congresses.
For patients, the association’s work means the emergence of transparent mechanisms for assessing the quality of medical care, higher safety standards and the building of trust in specialists.
“UPRADAS is not just another organization. It is a structure that creates uniform ethical rules focused on the safety of both patients and doctors. We are building a professional system in which the main value is knowledge and the main standard is responsibility. Ukraine has powerful specialists, but they need space for development, education systems and mutual support,” said the president of Upradas for aesthetic plastic surgery, founder of the clinic Lita Plus Serhii Derbak.
He stressed that the main goal of UPRADAS is to create uniform professional standards that regulate not only the technical aspects of surgery but also the ethical, educational and communication principles of the field.
The strategic areas of activity include the development of methodological recommendations, the creation of a Commission on the Quality of Medical Care, the introduction of continuing education programs and the strengthening of the international integration of Ukrainian specialists.
In addition, UPRADAS plans to create an independent expert commission to which both patients and doctors will be able to turn — for the review of complex clinical cases, consultations and professional opinions.
The association’s key priorities will be improving doctors’ qualifications through continuing education and international exchanges, establishing ethical and professional norms that protect both the patient and the doctor, and raising the quality of medical services by standardizing processes and clinical protocols.
Members of Upradas are regular participants in world congresses — AMWC (Monaco), IMCAS (Paris), Global Breast Surgery Congress, European School of Reconstructive Microsurgery (Barcelona) and others.
Plans include holding the annual Ukrainian conferences Breast Meeting, Anatomy of Beauty and Difficult Cases Conference with the participation of international speakers.
“UPRADAS is creating a platform where the doctor has everything needed for quality work and the patient has everything needed for confidence in their treatment. Together we are shaping new standards that will raise the quality of care and strengthen trust in Ukrainian medicine,” said the president of UPRADAS’s reconstructive plastic surgery division, Oleh Savenkov.
“The future of medicine lies in knowledge and ethics. We combine science, practice and international experience so that Ukrainian dermatosurgery and aesthetic medicine develop in line with world standards,” commented Oleksandr Turkevych, president of UPRADAS’s dermatosurgery division.
