On October 21, DFNC2: German Edition – the German-Ukrainian Defense Industries Seminar – took place. The event was organized by the Ministry of Strategic Industries, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, the Federation of German Industries (BDI) and the German-Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The event was organized so that Ukrainian and German defense companies could agree on cooperation in the defense industry.
“Ukraine is now a country of opportunities. It is here that the trends of the defense sector for the coming decades are being set. And new technologies are being tested in real combat. And, of course, we are ready to share the lessons learned and the experience gained with our partners. We already have experience of cooperation with German companies and will be glad to expand it. So we invite partners to cooperate,” said Minister of Strategic Industries Herman Smetanin.
The seminar brought together more than a hundred participants. They were representatives of 35 Ukrainian companies, including associations, two Ukrainian-German companies and 12 German ones, including an association. On the sidelines of the event, more than 100 b2b and b2g meetings were held.
“Strengthening defense-industrial cooperation is vital and corresponds to the strategic interests of Ukraine and Germany. It opens broad opportunities for the development of innovation,” noted Matthias Wachter, head of the department for international cooperation, security, defense and space policy at the Federation of German Industries.
As minister Herman Smetanin noted, Ukraine has a successful track record of cooperation with German companies. These include, in particular, the joint venture of Rheinmetall and Ukroboronprom for the repair of German infantry fighting vehicles, cooperation with Helsing in the field of artificial intelligence, the opening of a KNDS office, production by Quantum Systems and others. Events such as the German-Ukrainian Defense Industries Seminar DFNC2: German Edition are part of the DFNC ecosystem and help to produce new cooperation agreements, on whose implementation the Ministry of Strategic Industries continues to work together with the relevant ministries and agencies in order to strengthen the defense capability of the Defense Forces of Ukraine.
