How to protect yourself during shelling in the city: a lesson for pupils from a veteran of the Russian-Ukrainian war

For the Day of Dignity and Freedom the charitable foundation “Reconstruction and Development of Ukraine” — partner of the website TrueUA — held a lesson on pre-medical training in urban conditions during air-raid alerts and combat at School No. 60 in the capital for pupils in grades 6-8. The invited guest was Volodymyr Serhieiev, a veteran of the M. Pyrohov First Medical Company of the Western TRK of the National Guard of Ukraine and commander of an assault unit of the General Kulchytskyi Battalion.

The lesson took place in the school's sports hall. There, in the form of a lively account and with examples from his wartime life and from incidents involving civilians in various cities of our country during shelling, Volodymyr Serhieiev told the children what they need to have with them when leaving home, in case an alert and shelling catch them on the street, in the school building, or if they need to take cover from shelling alone, without relatives and loved ones.

The pupils also learned how to act when relatives are far away and you find yourself alone under shelling, whether first aid can be given to the wounded and for which kinds of wounds, how to contact relatives if you get lost, and many other things useful for survival in a city during shelling or fighting.
