In the new book “Cut yourself off gently,” Ukrainian business trainer and psychologist Maksym Romenskyi explores psychological separation as an important element of freedom and maturity. The author also shows how one can leave restrictive systems in order to build a life by one's own rules and scripts. The book became the first project of SIMIO, a new Ukrainian non-fiction publishing house.

At the heart of the book is the idea of ecological separation. It is about a conscious decision to let go of relationships, roles or systems that have stopped working for the person's benefit. The author analyzes dilemma-laden life topics familiar to everyone: from distancing within the family and breaking up with loved ones to moving to another country.

In contrast to Romenskyi's earlier books, which were devoted to business topics, this one addresses everyday experiences. The book is based on real client stories, therapy sessions and practical methods that the author has used for more than 30 years. It also contains questions for self-reflection, exercises and specific wording that help to go through separation constructively.

“This book is about separation. Yes, today it has become commonplace, but it has not stopped being painful. About separation from parents, friends, partners or even adult children. And, finally, about separation from one's own illusions. It is an experience that cannot be avoided. I want it to be not a full stop in loss, but a staircase by which one can climb from despair to clarity. And I want it to be a reminder to all of us that there is always a way out — from any system or situation,” notes Maksym Romenskyi.

The book will be useful and supportive for everyone who feels a need to get out of difficult life scenarios and relationships. It will also be useful for professionals who work with people — psychologists, psychotherapists, coaches, HR specialists. It is a practical tool created for both reflection and action, to help readers carry out important inner decisions. The book is already available on the publisher's website. An electronic version is also planned and will appear in October.

Maksym Romenskyi is the first author of the new Ukrainian publishing house SIMIO, which specializes in applied non-fiction. With this project, the publisher immediately declares its mission: to be a guidepost and a sign for readers.

The co-founders are Oleksandra Fidkevych, who has management experience and an author background, and Natalia Podoba, a journalist and editor with many years of media expertise.

SIMIO will publish books on psychology, personal growth, skills development and entrepreneurship by contemporary Ukrainian and foreign experts. These will be carefully selected titles that will help readers broaden their thinking and better understand themselves and the processes around them. And, most importantly, gain practical guidelines for proactive action.
